 Whetung Art Gallery features an elite collection of Native Art, both contemporary and traditional. Our masks are no exception, ranging from Iroquois Medicinal to B.C. Ceremonial right up to contemporary Ojibwa. Sally Thielen is a Chippewa artist who presents a most stunning array of masks using porcelain casts of Native models and assorted natural materials.
False face masks by Six Nations Grand Chief, Jake Thomas are a distinctive presence in the Gallery. Much controversy surrounds these masks, but their sale is sanctioned by the Grand Chief. Our B.C. collection is the largest in the area. We offer some very impressive hard to find ceremonial items and wall plaques that earn the praises of the most prolific collectors.
