The western shores of Saltspring Island border a narrow waterway called Samson Narrows. Cut into the rugged hillside is a small inlet called Musgrave Landing. We were tied to the public dock one summer evening when the setting sun began to throw it's shadows into the trees. The old arbutus stood stark against the shoreline as the orange glow from the sunset accented the twisting sienna coloured trunk.
