The Arbutus Tree

Printed in Canada. Art Card measures 6”x9” and comes with an envelope, with artist information.

The western shores of Saltspring Island border a narrow waterway called Samson Narrows.  Cut into the rugged hillside is a small inlet called Musgrave Landing.  We were tied to the public dock one summer evening when the setting sun began to throw it's shadows into the trees.  The old arbutus stood stark against the shoreline as the orange glow from the sunset accented the twisting sienna coloured trunk.

Sue Coleman has been painting for over 25 yrs and has earned international recognition for her distinctive watercolour paintings. Especially popular have been her `Interpretive’ Northwest Coast Indian images, which have been reproduced and sold to collectors worldwide. Sue maintains a studio in Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island, Canada and paints a variety of subjects from misty west-coast scenes to wildlife, landscapes and more. Sue actively works to promote environmental awareness and wildlife conservation.
