Here is a brief overview of important dates and special events that may interest you. We hope that you will be able to fit some of the occasions into your sightseeing schedule when in the beautiful Kawarthas.

 

May 16 & 17 2026 - Spring Art Show

Come and meet the Artists.  This year Maxine Noel, Rick Beaver, David Johnson, Mary Beth, John Kowarski, Terry Bateman and many others will be in the gallery with new work. Open 11am-5pm. 


August 15 & 16, 2026 – Summer Art Show

Summer and ‘art in the Kawarthas’ have become a synonym for those who have discovered the wealth of art galleries, exhibits and artists’ retreats that abound in this area. From the world-famous Buckhorn Art Festival to Sir Sandford Fleming College’s School of Fine Arts in Haliburton, this is the place to be in the summer if art is your thing. Especially if First Nation's art , nature, or wildlife art is your thing! Start your tour right here at Whetung Ojibwa Centre!


Sept 19 & 20, 2026  Curve Lake First Nation Pow Wow 

Song and dance of course food plus sights and sounds! Just a bit down the road from Whetung's, the Curve Lake Pow Wow is an annual event that draws visitors from across North America. Don’t miss this one!

Grand Entry noon both days 

Admission Fee 

Rain or Shine our community's Pow Wow will still continue, please dress accordingly.

Most Pow Wow vendors are cash only.

No Dogs allowed.

Curve Lake Pow Wow is a drug and alcohol free event


Oct 10 & 11, 2026– Thanksgiving Art Show
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Meet our artists and see them in action at this interesting event suitable for the whole family. Get out of the house this long weekend and enjoy the beautiful fall colours on your way to Whetung Ojibwa Centre.


Dec 23, 2026 – Christmas Shutdown begins
We will be closed from December 24, 2026- January  31, 2027

(Store will be open until 5pm December 23, 2026)
