Kurt Flett is an Oji-Cree, (Swampy Cree) from Garden Hill First Nation in the Island Lake region of northern Manitoba. Growing up in the same community that inspired Jackson Beardy in a an earlier generation. Kurt joined fellow community members Jeff Monias and Eddy Munroe in popularizing Woodland School of Aboriginal Art. Sadly, Kurt, only in his early fifties, passed away in 2011.
